Back when summer lasted three months
I spent many summer seasons in Calafell, which was a distant place long ago.
Back then summer was a wonderful time for children. It lasted three months, since most mothers didn’t work and spent that time with the kids in another place. For a child, the year used to have two seasons: the school season and summer, with other neighbours, other playmates, other gangs... Toys ruled: beach ball, spades and buckets (for our sandcastles), floats with animal shapes, kites…
You didn’t listen to music on your own, with your headsets on. You used to share music: with a guitar and a bonfire, with a record player or on a Jukebox.
It took a whole day to do the trip, seven people travelled inside a car, the films were in black and white... But summer memories from my childhood are in colour!
